My Review of Kyle XY 2.15- The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades

Ok, I said last week that I thought the Madacorp arc was over. Apparently I was wrong, but it has morphed.  More on that after my

Wow, was I wrong on the Madacorp angle. Seeing Emily back, offering Steven a job and trying to make nice
with Jessi, I was surprised. This may have been wrapping up of loose ends, but it might also be a simple morphing of the storyline. Curious about this.

Kyle has definite control freak tendencies.  Understandable, given all the givens, but still present.  He, for good reasons, wants to keep his abilities and background a secret. Jessi just wants to be noticed, and she doesn't care how she does it.  She honestly doesn't seem to get Kyle's obsession with keeping their abilities a secret. She sees the abilities almost as fun toys, so why not drag them out and play for a bit. Kyle looks at them as gifts that need to be used for the good of all. Interesting philosophical difference that will lead to conflict, I guarantee it.

It was nice to see Hilary back. Never my favorite character, but she is still fun. Wish she could back as something other than a CPD for Jessi to reveal her abilities, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

Josh continues to be seriously sweet where Andy is concerned. Wanting to become a doctor in order to
sure her. Awww.... And that last conversation was so sweet. If he was older, I might just snatch him up
for myself. :-)

Lori didn't do much tonight. So, not much to say about her.

Seeing Nicole go give Taylor parental advice was almost giggle worthy. The subject was really serious,
but I found it verging on funny for some reason. I was glad to see that she admitted to his face that this was ultimately about Kyle. If she hadn't, I think Taylor might have blown her off.

I feel sorry for Jessi. She so wants to be noticed and is so desperate to fit herself into a place in the world that she will do anything. Kyle is going to have his hands full keeping an eye on her this season.

Next week, the apparent meltdown of Kyle/Amanda. I am SO not looking forward to that....

My Review of Kyle XY 2.14- To C.I.R. With Love

Well, it's been a while, but I definitely think it was worth the wait....

Well, this episode apparently brought an end to the Madacorp arc. Which, to be honest, totally surprises me. I figured it would last a bit longer. But, it is possible that the arc isn't really over, but just resting for a bit. What was really interesting was the revelation that Valentine was the one after Kyle and not Madacorp. That begs the question of what was behind Valentine's obsession.

The Tragers now know everything about Kyle. And, they totally accepted it. Not that I expected them to reject him or anything, but it seemed that they accepted things just a bit too quickly. Necessary for story purposes, but seemingly somewhat plausible, so I'll let it slide without too much comment. And Lori's reaction to Declan's knowing was probably the best reaction of all. It was absolutely hilarious.

Lesson learned from this episode: Don't piss off Kyle and Jessi. Together the two of them wiped out power
across town and actually caused some physical side effects. That was impressive. What was interesting
there is the revelation that the two of them seem to have different purposes. This begs the question of
whether or not they have all of the same abilities or if there may be significant differences.

Watching Josh try and lie was probably the funniest thing. He is incapable of Andy. She knew he was keeping something from her, so he starts blurting out all of these long pent up secrets. Sorta like Vir Cotto from Babylon 5. I nearly died laughing at that scene.

Declan is so whipped by Lori. It is really cute, but somewhat cloying. His last line about no other girl having a chance because they weren't her was sweet, but almost too much.

This part of the season appears to be about Kyle and Jessi facing off about the use of their abilities.  This could be very interesting. Every time these two face off, they are so evenly matched that it is impossible to tell what will happen.

See y'all next week!

My Review of One Tree Hill 5.01- 4 Years, 6 Months, 2 Days and 5.02- Racing Like A Pro

This is the first of many reviews from One Tree Hill and Kyle XY that I wrote when the shows were first on.  Won't be doing any more intros like this since they are self-explanatory until I get to the last one.  :-)

Enjoy!

-------------------------

Wow, absolutely loved this season opener. It gave us good info on what happened in the past four years while leaving some questions.

And now it's time for one of my world famous One Tree Hill reviews. Not that I'm full of myself or anything. :-)

And here we go.....

Let's start with Lucas. Author dating his editor. Only surprising in that at the end of last season, I expected him to either be with Peyton or pining for her. In everything else, I was totally unsurprised by him. Great uncle, basketball coach, protective of Haley, inspired by Peyton, and helping her out. It was totally cool, but also unsurprising. I love how he handled that basketball tryout. He immediately established his bona fides and then proceeded to shake things up. And wow, that basketball player was so Dan-like, I was shocked. Granted, he didn't have Paul's polish, but that is to be expected. In addition to writing, Lucas apparently either runs or owns Tric. That was cool. I was sorry to see the Cafe closed, but we'll still see it since Brooke is moving in there.

Haley, honey, I feel for you. I remember that my first day of school was awful too. Granted, none of my students sexually harassed me; and that is exactly what that guy did; but still. I love how she handled it in the end. Let them walk if they want, but be sure they know the consequences. And does she have it tough with Nathan. I get his bitterness, but seriously, to say he has nothing is just self-pity talking. While he did lose his dreams and does have to work to walk again, he has Haley and Jamie. It is nice to see him start to work through things. It is going to take him a while, but he'll do it.

Peyton. Realized that not everyone has your idealistic view of music. So what does she do? With some large pushes from Lucas and Brooke, she opens her own label; inside/beside of Tric if I am not mistaken. That was totally cool. She and Lucas depend on each other so much for their art. They simply cannot work apart from each other.

Brooke. Beauty, fame, fortune, your own clothing line, and a multimillion dollar company are all yours. Are you happy? Not so much, because you miss your friends. I get that. But, she'll drop everything to help a friend out. And buying Karen's Cafe, while seriously cheesy, was really cool. I want to see what she'll do with the place. House, store, or both?

Poor Mouth. It sucks to have such a bitch for a boss who has none of Rachel's style. Wow. But, it's a first step. Here's to many more.

Skillz coaching with Lucas. The River Court really has taken over the high school court now. :-)

I love the actor who played Jamie. He is so cute and fits in really well. I can't wait to see more of him.

I definitely missed Deb, Whitey, and Karen. I assume that Whitey is still coaching that college. Karen and Lily are traveling the world. But, where's Deb? I really wish they had at least mentioned her.

Favorite moments:

The very beginning. It's been a long time and I missed new episodes.

The first few minutes. Good establishing what is going on with everyone.

Mouth taping the audition. Couldn't finish it until everyone was asleep.

Brooke straddling Lindsey and Lucas walking in. "I haven't had this happen to me since college."

Haley facing down the Dan-wannabe. Then his realizing that he wasn't on the team. Then Lucas warning him about acting up in English followed by the correction. Gods, that was fun.

I so missed doing this. Until next week!

My Review of Teen Wolf 1.09- Wolfs Bane

Jackson harasses Scott, Stiles annoys Derek, Allison and Scott grow further apart, and the Alpha is revealed......

And it is not anyone I was expecting.....

I have to start with the Alpha.  Derek's uncle!  You know, the badly burned one who has been in the nursing home for years.  I briefly thought of him with the revelation that the text to Allison to come to the school was shown to be from a computer that Scott's mom used, but I discounted the idea very quickly.  This is just getting more and more interesting.  I do wonder if Derek will actually be able to kill him or not.  Guessing not, particularly since he swatted Derek around like a doll during their encounter.

Poor Scott's life is going from bad to worse.  Between Allison dumping him and not wanting to talk with him and Jackson figuring out his secret and threatening to tell Allison in three days unless Scott manages to help him turn, this is very bad.  I understand the point of sending the photos to Allison, but the fact that it massively backfired is so not good.  Then sneaking into her house to steal the necklace?  Oh boy.  Getting caught by Mr. Argent was strike 3.  Fortunately he seems to have more lives than a cat.  And it looks like he is going to need all that luck to survive the next few weeks.

Jackson?  Pissing off a werewolf, probably not the best idea.  Granted, he couldn't do anything to you in the school cafeteria, but he is still dangerous under the right circumstances and boy are you setting up those circumstances something good.  And why on earth would anyone *WANT* to be a werewolf?  Granted, Jackson has only seen the upside of enhanced physical abilities, but still.  And dumping your girlfriend via text?  That is just beyond low.

I have to admit that I cracked up when Stiles used a shirtless Derek to get Danny to trace that phone signal.  That was just one of the funniest things I have seen.  I must admit that a shirtless Tyler would get me to do a lot of things as well, but let's keep this PG.  :-)  And Derek's revenge of bouncing Stiles' face off of the steering wheel was great.  As it turns out, that particular event was only done in one take (according to a tweet from  Dylan O'Brien) so I am really glad they kept it in.  Derek and Stiles make a great and funny pairing.  And poor Stiles ended up being caught between two werewolves.  So not a good thing for him.

Allison keeps creeping closer and closer to the truth.  Unfortunately, she is also creeping closer and closer to Jackson, which is really bad.

And the chemistry teacher?  Well, apparently he told Psycho Aunt how to set a fire without making it look like arson.  Uh oh.....

Next week, Scott's life just keeps getting worse and worse....

My Review of Supernatural 3.03

This is my review of SPN 3.03.  Think this might have been the last SPN review I ever did.  But don't remember for sure.  And I am done throwing things here from LiveJournal for the day.  Will do more later.

-------------

Wow, loved this episode. Those people over the summer whining and bitching about the new female characters, sit down and shut up. I said over and over that we needed to see how they were being used, and d@mn, was I right. The new characters are awesome and make the series even more fun than it has been. Trust the creators of shows before you start complaining. Now y'all look like the d@mn fools that you are.

Sorry I made that public, but I am not sorry for the sentiment. I heard so much complaining over the summer that bringin in these new characters was an awful idea and that they'd kill the show. If you even attempted to reason with people and ask them to wait to see the show before commenting, they'd shout you down and yell about freedom of speech. Well, I feel so vindicated right now. I always say that you need to trust the creators of a show. If they bring in a character, it is generally for a good reason. If you don't like it, either stop watching or bear it out and see if it gets better. I've done both. Ahh....love it when I'm right.

Now onto what is really important, the episode.

Let's start with Sam. Poor Sammy is basically the comic relief of the episode. He just keeps having bad stuff happen to him left and right. And I think I know why Jared has been relatively low key so far this season, he's also taping a movie; at least I think he's started it already. Hence, the relative paucity of Sam scenes. But what he has is played with style and flair by Jared.

Jensen is having fun with Dean this season. Between being the main brother at this point and Dean's desire to live life to the fullest due to the deal, this is a great time to be Dean. While he still can kick @$$ with the best of them, he is also living it up to the best of his abilities. Love the way he threw the rabbit's foot at Bela at the end to force her to catch it and burn it. And the look on his face when he realized that Bela poached his lottery tickets, PRICELESS!!

Bela is interesting. Totally amoral and mercenary, but with all of the knowledge of a hunter. Definitely not a love interest, although I can see Dean bedding her if they get in the right situation.

The return of Gordon and his companions. Not my favorite storyline. It struck me as filler and almost as an excuse to show off Sam's bad luck. It can live without that one.

I think this episode has been one of the funniest of the series so far. I loved it!

My Review of Supernatural 3.02

Only a couple more of these left....

---------

The first thing I thought of when I saw this episode title was the Dark Angel episode "The Kidz are Aiight". While Jensen wasn't in that episode of DA, he was in the show. But, anyway, onto the review.

This week, I'll be going back to my normal character based review rather than the plot summary I did last week.

First, Dean. While I figured that the kid probably wasn't his; that was entirely too obvious of a move; I was highly amused to see the kid being so Deanish. Wonder how much training and stuff it took to make the kid act like Dean. It was nice to see Dean be a father figure, although I do question the notion of teaching a kids to kick another one in the 'nads amusing as that was. Dean was so personally invested in this particular job it was not funny. Between the kid who might have been his and the woman he had a fling with being threatened, he really was motivated this time.

And ladies, nice to see you admire all the right things about Dean.

Second, Sam and the as-yet-unamed demon/hunter. That was a twist I wasn't expecting. I haven't seen any spoilers except for knowing that there will be two female hunters this season, so that totally threw me for a loop. I figured that she was some exceptionally well-informed hunter. When her eyes went black, I practically jumped out of my skin in surprise. And now she wants to help Sam figure out his past, what the YED wanted with him, and might be able to help Dean live beyond the 1 year of the deal. Wow, this is going to be a packed season.

Sam didn't do much except for fight the demons and keep researching ways to keep Dean alive. I don't think this'll be a trend, but if it is I'll be seriously upset.

Those kids were creepy. 'Nuff said.

Next week, the introduction of the second female hunter.

Supernatural 3.01 Reviews

This is a review of SPN 3.01.  Only ever did a few on SPN, so enjoy.  :-)

---------

And now for my review of Supernatural's season premiere. It was awesome. In the season finale, the boys let loose a lot of demons. This week was the aftermath of that mistake in the form of the Seven Deadly Sins.

But, lets start at the beginning. We open with a man going to put out the trash. He looks at the neighbor's car with envy (appropriately enough) and then sees that the lights are flickering and his trash cans are rattling. He looks up and sees a cloud of demons coming. He starts to run, and then in that stupidity that is so common to all TV characters, stops and looks back at the approaching cloud. Ummm...dude, if I saw some weird cloud, I'd just run away and not bother looking back. But, he does look back and is possessed by a demon. Then we go to the opening sequence.

We come back to see Sam in a car reading a book about Faustian deals and crossroads demons. Gee, wonder what he's thinking. Could it be that he's trying to find a way to get Dean out of the deal he made? Naw...couldn't be...

Then, we see Dean in a wifebeater. All I have to say is DAMN! Jensen should wear a tight shirt like that more often. He's obviously been working out. He has a hot chick in the hotel room, closes the curtain...and well, you can imagine what happens next. Sam gets a call from Bobby about some problems and goes to tell Dean so that they can leave. He goes in and walks in on Dean mid-coitus. Then we see them driving away and Sam asking for a knife to gouge out his eyes because he saw a part of Dean's anatomy that he never wanted to see. Dude, I hafta say that I wouldn't mind seeing that part of Dean myself.

Well, they meet Bobby and enter a house. After looking around for a bit, they find that the family is dead in the family room. They look like severe starvation victims who have been dead for a while. While the brothers and Bobby are trying to figure out what is going on, they hear a noise. Dean goes outside and is hit by a shotgun butt in fairly short order. It is a pair of demon hunters who it turns out aren't too happy with Sam and Dean for letting the demons out of hell.

Then we see the possessed man from the beginning of the show who gets a woman to REALLY want a pair of shoes being bought by someone else. So the lady kills the other woman and takes the shoes. The investigation ensues and our hunters track the man down to a bar. Unfortunately, the married hunters also find the bar and head in without knowing what is going on. The bar turns out to be the hangout for the Seven Deadly Sins. Oy vey! They force the husband to drink what I think was a drain cleaning solution. He dies, and our hunters break in and escape with the wife and Envy; which is in the aforementioned stupid man.

They go back to the married hunters house where the wife wants to go all medieval on the demons. Bobby gets in her face and gets everyone calmed down enough to think about what is going on. They proceed to question the demon and then Tamara exorcises it. Then the other demons attack and the fight ensues. Bobby gets one in a Devil's Trap; not sure which one; and exorcises the demon. Dean gets Lust who he promptly starts making out with. Then he dunks her into a tub of Holy Water with rosaries in it. Tamara sends the demon possessing the corpse of her husband back to Hell.

Sam is left facing Pride and the other two demons. Pride breaks the Devil's Trap and informs Sam that with the death of the YED, it is open season on him. They attack Sam and he is rescued by a pretty blonde chick; who I am assuming is one of the two new female hunters. I have to say that she has a nice entrance. She kills two demons in fairly short order, and then as Sam distracts Pride, she kills it too. Then she leaves.

Our hunters then proceed to burn the bodies and talk about what happened. Tamara leaves, and then Bobby does too. Sam informs Dean that he is sick of Dean's recent hedonistic streak and tells Dean that he has a lead on a priest to help them break the deal Dean made to get Sam's life back. Dean then drops the bomb that if the deal is broken, Sam will die. Dean makes it very clear that he will personally stop Sam if Sam tries anything. Sam gets upset about this, and then they drive off.

I'll do a personal review later on. Let me just say that I loved this opening episode.
