Lourdes is even crazier that I had previously thought, the Espheni offer Tom a deal, Anne continues to be scary Momma Bear, and Lexie holds a few surprises of her own...
Lexie is apparently going to be the centerpiece of the season. The Espheni look at her as the key to a new order, Lourdes and her followers practically worship her, and Anne is beyond determined to find her. Lexie herself seems to be unsure about who she is. As the doctor noted, she is less than a year old, but has the body of a 21 year old. Apparently the combining of Espheni and human DNA is causing some really interesting things to happen. She definitely has telekinetic abilities as was shown twice in the episode. First, when Ben confronted her and she started blowing things around and then later when Lourdes confronted Ben and the doctor and she caused the vial of her blood to shatter against the wall and then move away.
I have to wonder if the Espheni are telling the truth when they told Tom that something worse was coming. If they are (and that is a *BIG* if), then everything they are doing makes a sort of sense. Encouraging kids to work with them doesn't quite fit in with what the Overlord told Tom, but they may be trying out different approaches to work on the problem. Having Lexie encourage peaceful coexistence, recruiting human adults, and brainwashing kids suggests that the Espheni are starting to get a little desperate and are searching for a thing (or combination of things) that will enable them to pacify the Earth before this mysterious other force arrives.
I am a little worried about Matt. The leader of the camp seems to suspect that Matt is up to something, but doesn't seem to have proof yet. You have to wonder if the guy Matt was supposed to meet really graduated or if something else happened to him. Either way, it is not good. Matt's plan requires a steady build up to a rebellion or escape and if Matt keeps on having to find new people, it is going to go nowhere fast.
Lourdes is even creepier than last week. Refusing to let Ben see Lexie and insisting that only she can give consent for Lexie to be studied (no other way to phrase that) is so controlling and creepy. I have to imagine that what is going on now is an aftereffect of the possession from last season. Lourdes seems to see herself as the true leader of the compound and she is using Lexie as a figurehead to accomplish her own goals. And why exactly is Lexie meeting with the Overlord? Is she under their control (see Hal from last season) or is she doing this freely to facilitate peace between the Espheni and the humans? And does Lourdes really think that she can stop Ben from seeing Lexie? Unless things have changed, he still has the heightened physical abilities from the time when he was harnessed, so there is not a whole lot she can do if he is determined to see Lexie.
Anne is scaring me in a whole different way. She has blinders on and those blinders are the blinders of a mother trying to find her child. She doesn't seem to notice that she is wearing everyone around her out and stabbing that Skitter while it was still linked to the girl was something I would not have expected from her before now.
Did Tom really accept the Overlord's deal or did he just seem to accept it in order to buy time so that he can figure out a way to get everyone out of the ghetto? I did find it interesting that Matt was in the ghetto for a little while before being taken to the reeducation camp. As for Pope, he appears to have changed a little bit in that he is going along with Weaver and Tom a little more quickly than he has in the past.

My Review of Falling Skies 4.01- Ghost in the Machine
That was an....interesting season premiere. Definitely not the best I have ever seen, but decent. We have the Masons split up, some blatant totalitarian references, and a weird cult. This should be an interesting season.
Ok, so we open with the 2nd Mass on their way back to Charleston when they are attacked by the Espheni. There is the predictable death and carnage with Tom being thrown backwards by an explosion. Then we cut to....
Four months later....
Sorry to do the first few minutes that quickly, but not a whole lot happened there. Anyway, 4 months have passed in the blink of an eye and we have Tom, Hal, Pope, Weaver, and most of the rest of the 2nd Mass in an internment camp. Ben, Lourdes, Maggie and Lexi in a cultlike compound where love and harmony are the watchwords. Anne is leading a group of rebels and looking for Lexi while Matt is in a reeducation center. Let's take one at a time.
Matt is most definitely his father's son. He is smart enough to play along with the brainwashing while simultaneously building a resistance force and using history to show them why they should do what he suggests. I am definitely glad they are giving Matt his own story because the poor guy has consistently played second fiddle to his brothers. I get why, given his age and everything (Maxim is about 15), but it is still nice to see. It's also good to see that he has learned a lot about leadership and history from his father. The only question is whether or not he has learned enough to keep the resistance going.
Anne has turned into a BAMF leader. She is a mama bear and I pity anyone who gets in her way. My only worry is that she may push her people too hard and too far, which is highly likely given her obvious (and understandable) obsession with finding Lexi. She is resourceful as was shown by the way she improvised a molotov cocktail on the fly and she also commands the respect of the people around her. Well, either that or they are smart enough to stay the hell out of her way.
Lexi and Lourdes are seriously creeping me out. I have to wonder if Lourdes is suffering any side effects from her "possession" (what else could you call it?) last season. Then there is the fact that in four months, Lexi has grown into the body of a 16 or 17 year old (I think). Seriously creepy. When someone can get Maggie to lay down their arms, that is something to take note of. I wonder if Ben was unconscious for 4 months or if there is something else going on because he had no idea what was going on. That is assuming, of course, that they have been in the compound the whole time. If not, when exactly did they arrive? I don't think Ben could have been unconscious for 4 months because if someone had not be using their muscles for that long, there would be some serious atrophy going on.
Most of the 2nd Mass appears to be in the internment camp. Weaver and Tom are in isolation, but Tom has figured a way out and is using a scarf as a mask to hide his identity while looking for a way out. That is not at all surprising. Nor is it surprising that Pope has gone back to his hoarding ways. The guy never really gave that up, so it is not much of a backslide. When things are going well, he may share, but he is always on the look out for one person, himself. Hal is also definitely his father's son. He is taking on Pope directly, not that there has ever been any love lost between those two.
And the Volm have mostly left Earth to fight the Espheni on other planets and to protect one of their major ships. I am not sure if Cochise can be of much help for Tom and the others, but I am hoping he can do something.

My Review of Teen Wolf 4.01- The Dark Moon
I apologize for not getting this out last night, but I was unable to watch the episode until this evening. I'll try and get to Falling Skies tomorrow night.
On Teen Wolf- The gang searches for Derek and runs into some old faces, Malia and Kira get brought up to speed, and Derek is found (sort of)....
I really need to remember to stay off of social media if I miss a show like Teen Wolf. While I know how to avoid reviews, I neglected to remember that people post things on Tumblr and Instagram that can spoil things if you don't watch it live. In this case, I was spoiled about little Derek. Since I knew it was coming, the final moments had very little impact on me. If I had seen that live, I would definitely have had a "WTF!" moment. There is still the question of how exactly Derek turned into his teenage self.
You gotta admire the pack's gumption to face off against the Caldeveras' (hope I spelled that correctly) the way they did. In case you missed it, this was the same family that held Derek and Peter at the beginning of season 3B and who were in Derek's loft when Kate made her reappearance. And the head of that family seems extremely well informed about Scott's pack. She knew that Kira was a kitsune and that Lydia was a banshee. She never said anything about Malia, but I think it would be safe to assume that they know she is a werecoyote.
I was a little surprised that she didn't seem to know what kind of Alpha Scott was. It is possible that she heard stories and wanted to test him for herself, but given what she said to him as he left, I don't thinks she believes any stories she may have heard. If she had, she would have known that Scott is a very different Alpha from what she has dealt with in the past.
It was nice to see Stiles back as his old, sassy self who has also grown and matured since he first appeared. I so missed this Stiles in season 3B. And Lydia has also grown, which is really nice to see. I know that she has had a lot to deal with and that has changed her, but she still has that sass and spunk that was present in season 1. Basically, our core 3 have all grown up and matured nicely while still keeping those traits we loved about them initially.
Malia is going to be interesting. She is most definitely her father's daughter. Of course, a lot of that has to do with the fact that she spent 8 years as a coyote living according to the rules of the wild. She is pragmatic to a fault as was evidenced by her suggestion that they abandon Lydia and run for it. She is also seriously impulsive as is shown by the way she charged off after whatever was around the jeep. That being said, I do think she'll be good for Stiles. She can help him keep that fun side that he can lose sometimes.
That is not to say that I don't still hold out hope for Stiles and Lydia, although it is fading fast. The two of them make a great team and I'd almost hate to see that affected by a possible romance. She is his first major crush and I don't think that will ever go away, but Malia seems determined to keep with Stiles. Fortunately, Teen Wolf seems to shy away from love triangles, a policy that I am wholly supportive of and hope they keep going.
Watching Scott, Stiles, and Lydia (the aforementioned core 3) catch Malia and Kira up on current events was pretty fun. Kira was content to let sleeping dogs lie, but Malia had no such qualms. And you have to admit that there was a good amount to catch them up on between Kate and the mercenary (have never quite caught her name).
I am not sure if it was just me, but this episode felt a bit like they were almost trying to reboot the show while not changing much or forgetting the past. The whole feel of the show was much more of a season 1 feel than more recent episode have been. It was lighter, irreverent, fun, spunky, and much more relaxed, which was nice after the heaviness of the last arc. It could also be that because the core 3 have now become veterans and teachers with the newbies as the learners.
I am really curious as to how teen Derek is going to fit into the dynamic now and how long he'll be around. Hopefully, when older Derek reappears, he'll go back to his mentor role, which is the one thing he was sort of good at. I know I harp on this about Derek, but he is not a good leader but he does make a good mentor, so that is where he should stay.
That roar Scott gave in the basement of the temple was pretty amazing. I had not thought that he would be able to collapse the ceiling the way he did. That was impressive. I don't think that is a True Alpha ability because (theoretically) any loud enough sound would be good enough to collapse a ceiling. And he does need to figure out what he wants his relationship with Kira to be. I get that he is probably still recovering from what happened to Allison, but that doesn't mean that he and Kira can't at least figure out what is going on in a general sense.

The Teen Wolf Season 4 Credits
If you haven't seen them, EOnline has the new credits for Teen Wolf Season 4 up. There are actually some major changes this season.
First off, instead of rising out of the ground, Scott (Tyler Posey) jumps (or falls) from above and lands out the ground bringing up a cloud of dust. Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) has the first major change for him ever and is seen with the string connecting images/news reports flow chart you see on a lot of procedurals. Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) is still the same: shirtless with arms spread out. Lydia (Holland Roden) is still the same as well. After her death, Allison (Crystal Reed) has been removed and been replaced by Malia (Shelley Hennig) coming through what looks like a grove of trees and Kira (Arden Cho) slicing the air with a sword. The credits end with the image of a desert. Given that this last image has *ALWAYS* been a vital clue to the arc of the season, I am curious about it.
The colors have changed to a dusty yellow as opposed to the bright yellow of a betas eyes and there are frequent clouds of dust/sand around. Other than that, the images between the actors are pretty much the same. Overall, looks pretty cool. I'm gonna miss Crystal and Dan, but I am interested to see how Malia and Kira fit in now.
