My Review of Ringer 1.10- That's What You Get for Trying to Kill Me

She's baaaccckkk!!  Siobhan returns to New York as things get even more complicated between Andrew and Bridget and everyone realizes the connection between John and Gemma's disappearance....

So, Gemma is now really dead.  Killed by John as she tried to escape from him after he thought he killed her before.  In turn, Siobhan returned and killed John.  No, this isn't complicated at all.  Somewhat surprisingly, Siobhan was crystal clear on the fact that she didn't want Gemma hurt or killed.  Rather, she just wanted Gemma to be kept quiet about Bridget.  And Siobhan has decided to stay in New York.  I wonder what this means for Bridget.  Nothing good, of that I am sure.

Bridget managed to complicate things with Andrew even more by sleeping with him.  Granted, it is a wifely thing to do, but not necessarily the smartest thing, particularly with Siobhan back in town.  This whole situation is going to get incredibly messy now.  Especially since she discovered an envelope with Siobhan's name and what appears to be an address from Paris in John's apartment.

I cannot believe that Juliet has accused her teacher of rape.  She was so obviously trying to get into his pants and he turned her down.  Now, I don't understand why he would kick a student out of the room, close the door, and talk with Juliet alone.  Not a smart maneuver.  I am going on the record now as saying that she is totally lying about the rape.  Could I be wrong?  Sure, but I seriously doubt it.  She is not used to being denied, particularly as bluntly as he denied her, and now she wants revenge.  Period.

To think that if Henry hadn't interfered, Gemma may very well still be alive as might John.  I hope he realizes that.  I do know that he was doing what he thought was best, but he did manage to screw everything up royally.

It was also nice to see Machado actually see through someone's lies.  It's taken him long enough.  And he's supposed to be a great cop?  Sigh....

My Review of Ringer 1.09-Shut Up and Eat Your Bologna

Oh my, talk about answers given and a little twist I didn't expect...

So, Siobhan seems to have had this whole thing mapped out from the beginning.  She had Charlie have one of his cop friends freak Bridget out and give her a gun so that she'd run to Siobhan.  Which means that I was totally wrong.  A few weeks ago, I said something about the fortuitous nature of Bridget's visit for Siobhan, but it was planned.  That is just, well, twisted.  I knew Siobhan was manipulative and whatnot, but this brings that to a whole new level.  She also planted seeds for running with her therapist.  Apparently, she actually meant for Bridget to die in the pilot, hence the paranoia the therapist noted.  Wow, this just makes her a total string puller.

Gemma is still alive!  Holy crap!  Not only alive, but being kept in the basement of Charlie's house.  By the way, Charlie is so not an addict.  Or if he is, he really isn't trying to get clean.  Hence the time he spends in the bar.  I wonder why he is leaving Gemma alive.  It seems that it would have been better to have just gotten rid of her.  Also, she barely seemed injured, so where did all the blood in her house come from that Henry was cleaning up?

And Olivia?  A complete bitch.  For the second time, she goes behind Charles' back to get to Henry's father-in-law.  And she knows about Henry and Siobhan.  That cannot be a good thing given the hostility she consistently displays.  You know she is going to pick the worst possible moment and exploit her new knowledge.  And this as Bridget is really turning her life around and making a good solid life for herself, albeit a life founded on a lie.

I am glad that Malcolm is helping Bridget out.  She needs the help and his being there for her is a good thing.  My only worry is his constant belittling of the life she is establishing.  I know, a life founded on lies is not a good life, but if she can continue to make this work, I think it will work out for the best.  And he was this close to helping Gemma out.

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.09- Balcoin

That was a good mid-season finale.  Mostly wrapped up one storyline while allowing it to continue if needed and also presenting us with new questions that will give good storylines when we return in January.

So, Cassie's dad is John Blackwell who descends from an ancient, evil, and powerful line who were originally called Balcoin.  So her power comes from the Blake side which is one of the original witch families and the Balcoins.  This seems to mean that she has both dark magic and good (white?) magic inside of her.  The combination of these two sides; presumably; is what allows her to do solo magic even when her magic is supposedly contained.  Ok, that is a little scary.  Even scarier is the fact that supposedly another member of the Circle is descended from the Balcoins as well.  The obvious choice is Faye, so I have my doubts about that.  If it is Adam, I will be a little weirded out, although that would explain the inexplicable connection the two of them seem to share.  Another fairly obvious choice is Jake given his ability to do solo magic, although they have said that he isn't bound to the Circle, so that could be wrong.

Speaking of Jake, I feel sorry for the poor guy.  He obviously has feelings for Cassie and so was reluctant to have any harm come to her, but he was caught between a rock and a hard place.  Ultimately, I think he did the right thing is helping to free Cassie and then leave.  I also honestly think that he meant to run away with Cassie and get her away from the witch hunters and the Circle, both for her protection and theirs.  I do think that he wants to protect the town from more bad magic, even if he is not going about it the right way.  I so hope he comes back.

Watching Faye and Adam work together was very interesting.  Don't think we've ever seen the two of them cooperate so much before.  But then again, the need has never been quite so desperate.  I was also impressed at how quickly Diana was able to put her personal feelings aside and work with Adam again.  I do hope that Melissa gets more stories, I really would love to see her fleshed out.

Charles managed to screwup royally.  His spell has totally messed with Jane's mind.  He needs to figure out how to fix it and quick.  I am afraid that if he doesn't fix it, Dawn will step in and the consequences will not be good for either of them.

My Review of Vampire Diaries 3.09- Homecoming

Oh my, talk about plans going awry for the most interesting reasons.  And the ending.....

Mikael is no more.  He was killed by Klaus after a betrayal by Stefan and Katherine, although the betrayal was not for the bad reasons you might assume.  Turns out that Klaus figured out that a betrayal was in the offing and so he threatened to have Damon killed if he died.  So, Katherine decided that it was better that he survive.  Unfortunately, in the process Klaus managed to get the stake made from the white ash tree and kill Mikael.  That was; I must admit; an impressive death.  The side effect is that we now have a very annoyed Klaus.  And then Stefan upped the ante by stealing the coffins with Klaus' family in them which just managed to piss him off even more.  I am so not looking forward to the revenge Klaus will inevitably take.

And while we are speaking of betrayals, can I also say that Rebekah is going to be incredibly pissed off at Elena for betraying her.  I get Elena's reason for doing it.  She just wanted to make sure that the plan went off well.  However, by literally stabbing Rebekah in the back, Elena burned a bridge that should not have been burned.  Hopefully, they moved Rebekah somewhere where she won't be revived to come back, although I fear that she will be back at the most inconvenient moment.

I have to side with Tyler in his betrayal of Caroline.  He just wanted to keep her as safe as he could which I totally get and applaud.  I am concerned at his willingness to accept his bondage to Klaus with such equanimity, but given what he was going through when he changed, being given the ability to control the change must be good for him.  But this puts a serious dent in his and Caroline's relationship.

Damon impressed me tonight.  He came up with an excellent plan that would have worked if Katherine hadn't sabotaged it in order to save his and Stefan's lives.  By having Katherine pose as Elena, he allowed Mikael to demonstrate his seriousness to Klaus without placing Elena in any actual danger.  And the nifty wolfsbane grenades were just an excellent weapon.  Unfortunately, he trusted Katherine too much and so ended up ruining his plan.  I am also impressed that he managed to get Bonnie to go along with the plan given their history.  But, maybe I shouldn't be too surprised.  Had it worked, the plan would have protected Elena and the town which Bonnie is more than willing to do.

My Review of Ringer 1.08- Maybe We Can Get a Dog Instead?

Andrew finds out that "Siobhan" is not pregnant, Juliet gets a nasty surprise from her teacher, Malcolm shows up in New York, and Tyler (aka Siobhan's boytoy) gets a serious shock when he is recalled to New York by Andrew....

Well, Bridget certainly had an interesting week, although the most interesting parts she doesn't know about yet.  Despite the fact that Tyler said that he slept with her, she didn't put two and two together and figure out that Siobhan is in fact still alive.  Am surprised about that to be honest.  I mean, if I had a twin who I thought was dead and then someone came up to me and said that he had been sleeping with me, putting 2 and 2 together would not have been hard.  Weird, granted, but not hard.  Although, in her defense, she had a busy week.  Between "losing" the baby, Malcolm showing up, and trying to salvage the marriage with Henry, Bridget is a busy little beaver.

And Siobhan got a rude kick to the head courtesy of Andrew, Tyler, and Bridget.  Boy, is she going to be pissed!  She loses her wonderful hotel room because Tyler got called back to the US (thanks to her!) and meets "Siobhan".  Ow.  Refuse to feel sorry for her though, at this point she has racked up *SO* much bad karma that she deserves this kick in the ass and oh so much more!

So Juliet has a crush on her teacher.  He's cute, sweet, helpful, and defended her to her dad and the principal.  I get it.  Unfortunately, by getting her out of his class, he guaranteed that she'll get worse.  That was so not the way to deal with the situation.  Honestly, I don't know what he should have done, but by getting her out of his class, he just made her that much more determined.  Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad....

Well, Malcolm is now trying to get clean, which is a good thing.  And he is with Bridget's new sponsor which is both good and bad.  Good because Bridget can keep an eye on him easier.  Bad, because the sponsor is Siobhan's plant.  And given the previews for next week, Malcolm gets suspicious of the new sponsor.

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.08- Beneath

Cassie shows her independent powers (along with a bitchy streak), Diana shows she can be petty, Faye is seeing things, and Charles and Dawn have a bit of a falling out....

So Cassie can get her bitch on.  Nice to know and while maybe a little overly harsh toward Faye, well, Faye deserved it.  And two times tonight, Cassie used solo magic (although in one case, she may have had help from Jake).  First, she lights a fire by thinking about it and then she raises the body of Faye's grandfather from the bottom of the lake.  She also taps into the memory that is haunting Faye.  Her power level is more than a little scary.  I think Jake is totally right to be wary of her.  The witch hunters had better be careful of Cassie.  Granted, they may be able to overpower her by surprise, but I suspect that if she sees it coming, they won't get very far with her.

Jake is definitely into Cassie.  The way he refused the kiss and the way he was talking about her to the witch hunter clearly show that there is more there than just simple curiosity about her origins.  He is also wise enough to not want to cross her magically speaking since I suspect that she could kick his ass up one side and then down the other.  If she were to be able to call upon the full power of the Circle, that would be truly scary.

Watching Diana be petty and bitchy was also an interesting sight.  She was so obviously testing Adam and he failed miserably.  She seems to be vacillating between wanting to hate Adam and Cassie and wanting them as friends (well, Cassie anyway).  Let's hope she makes up her mind soon.  And Adam needs to make a decision as well.  He loves Diana, but the attraction between him and Cassie is definitely there as well.

Faye was a little petty, but that is almost expected from her at this point.  She actually spent most of the night distracted by her memories of herself trying to point out where her grandfather's body was.  Given that, a little pettiness and bitchiness is understandable.

One of the more interesting parts was when Charles stood up to Dawn.  He isn't planning on letting her have control this time.  Instead, he kept the crystal for himself and proceeded to cast a spell on Cassie's grandmother in order to control her.   Given the ending there are three possibilities:

1. The spell isn't quite what he thought it was.

2. He isn't powerful enough to fully control her, but he could affect her memories.

3. The spell is working as desired.

I wonder which it was....

Next week, Jake is revealed to be a witch hunter and its the mid-season finale....

My Review of Vampire Diaries 3.08- Ordinary People

We find out some surprising information about the Originals, Michael (or is it Mikael?), and the Original witch.   Also, Damon has an interesting approach to helping Stefan...

So Michael; although I've also seen the spelling as Mikael; is the father of the Originals and the Original witch is their mother.  Those were two interesting twists I so didn't see coming until the last minute.  So Klaus has been running from Daddy for 1000 years.  Wow.  Talk about family issues.  So let's see if we can get this story straight:

The Originals moved to America from Europe to escape a plague and moved to a town of werewolves.  Klaus' mom had an affair with one of them and Klaus was born, causing his father to despise him because of wounded pride over being cuckolded.  Then one full moon, Klaus and his youngest brother (Henry?) went to see the werewolves transform and the brother was killed.  In response, Michael and his wife (Esther?) decided to ask a witch to give them the ability to protect themselves.  The witch declined, so the wife (being a witch) did the protective spell herself.  The spell involved each member of the family dying and then feeding on blood in order to be reborn.  Since the spell involved an old white ash tree, that tree could be used to kill them.  Also, each of their abilities had a downside.  They were immortal and therefore couldn't go out into the sun.  They also couldn't enter into the houses of the living without an invitation.  At some point, Klaus' mother cast a curse on him to restrain his werewolf side and so he killed her and then told Rebekah and Elijah that Michael had killed her by ripping out her heart.  Also either Klaus or Michael (I'm betting on Klaus here), destroyed most of the village.

That was alot of information to pack into an episode.  Very cool and interesting information, but alot.  The one thing that gets me is that if Klaus killed his mother, why did he record how he did it?  Wouldn't he have recorded that Michael did it like he told Rebekah and Elijah?  At least given the first scene, I assume he wrote the drawings on the wall.  It is possible that Michael or someone else did it so that the truth would be known.  I hope they answer this one definitively at some point, because I really want to know.

Now to Damon and his plan to help Stefan.  He frees Stefan and then takes him to a bar so that they can have some fun.  In the middle of this fun, Stefan dropped an interesting insight into Stefan's character.  Stefan is seemingly incapable of half measures where drinking blood is concerned.  Either he is the Ripper or he is Stefan, there is no happy medium.  This tells us that Stefan is an addict.  It is a classic addict character trait.  They either have to be on what they crave or not, they cannot be in between.  This is just a little bit of interesting information.  It has been implied (maybe said, but don't remember offhand) that Stefan is addicted to blood given the steps Lexi has to take to get him off of it, but this confirmation is just interesting.

I also found it interesting that Michael could not break Klaus' compulsion of Stefan.  Either he isn't strong enough yet or Klaus is just flat out too powerful.  I wonder which it is.  And the little loophole Stefan exploited was just interesting.  It sounds similar to the Asimovian laws of robots that he cannot directly cause harm to come to Klaus.  I wonder if this means that he cannot through inaction allow Klaus to be hurt.  In other words, would he somehow be forced to rescue Klaus or could he stand to the side in order to allow something to happen?

My Review of Ringer 1.07- Oh Gawd, There's Two of Them?

The answer to what happened to Gemma is revealed and the perpetrator is not someone who was expected.  Also, Bridget reveals her existence to Andrew and Henry....

Well, gotta hand it to Bridget.  When she wants to cover things up, she does every thing right that can be done.  She called in the tip about the vase and rags in the dumpster and then when the cops showed up proceeded to call herself up and leave a message (as Bridget) that she was leaving.  I am impressed.  Two things are going to foul up her plan.  One, Malcolm shows up.   Two, her sponsor is the person who killed Gemma and is working with Siobhan.  I totally did not expect that last part.  When I saw him talking with Siobhan and they showed what happened to Gemma, I was floored.  Maybe I should have figured it out, but I didn't.

As for Bridget telling Andrew and Henry that she existed, that was smart.  She did everything she could to ensure that the police would be looking for Bridget and not Siobhan or anyone else.  I am definitely impressed.  Until the two things mentioned above, she had her bases covered.  As for the two hiccups, neither could really have been predicted.  Ok, well, the first maybe.  The second, not so much.  And it turns out that Siobhan had Gemma taken out because Gemma knew about Bridget.  Ruthless much?

As for Henry showing up at the art gallery, I can understand why he did it.  First, it was his wife's work.  Second, if he hadn't showed up, it would have made him look even guiltier.  Basically, he had a lose-lose situation, so he made the best of it.  Seriously sucks to be him right now.

Can't blame Andrew for being upset at "Siobhan" for hiding Bridget's existence.  I am glad that they made up though.  Things have changed so much for them that had they not made up, I would have been annoyed.  Not quite as happy about the way he dealt with Juliet.  I know she seriously screwed up, but she was trying to do the right thing within the limits she had.  I know she should not have been driving at all and definitely should not have been drinking, but I think he slightly overreacted.  Well, we'll see how this shakes out.

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.07- Masked

We find out some interesting information about Cassie, Adam tries (and fails) to win Diana back, Faye tries (and fails) to "distract" Jake, and the witch hunters strike....

Well, Cassie is not only seriously powerful from her mom's side, but her dad's side has seriously dark mojo.  Dark enough that she has to be "taken care of" in a different manner.  And apparently also dark and powerful enough for her to be able to do some serious involuntary magic on her own while in a circle meant to contain her magic.  That is not a good thing.  Her power seemed to scare Jake and totally freaked out the leader of the witch hunters.  Don't mess with Cassie.  I fear what will happen if/when she gets her full powers under conscious control.

Jake really needs to pick a side.  He does seem fairly solidly on the side of the witch hunters, but there are moments where he wavers.  Nothing major and maybe it is just my imagination, but there are moments.  It definitely feels like he needs to force himself to take some actions which is part of this.  I do congratulate Cassie for realizing that something is off about him, she just needs to put all the pieces together and figure out that 1 and 1 equal 2.

Adam is desperately trying to make everything up to Diana and he ain't succeeding.  I do wish she would give him a chance, but I get it.  He and Cassie have been getting closer and closer and then his dad goes on about their "fate".  Fortunately, she is still talking with Cassie.  I think she'll probably try and get back with Adam at some point, let's just hope it is not too late.

Who smacked Cassie's grandmother over the head?  I suspect Charles or Dawn, but I could be very wrong.  And who exactly is Jack Blackwell and why does he have such seriously dark magic?

Next week, Cassie tries to be naughty....

My Review of Vampire Diaries 3.07- Ghost World

Jeremy makes a decision, Bonnie gets pissed, Caroline defends Mrs. Lockwood, Mason Lockwood teams up with Damon (!), and Elena finds someone with experience in detoxing Stefan....

Well, we found out why exactly people were able to cross over.  When Bonnie brought Jeremy back, she opened a door that the First Witch took advantage of.  And when Matt sent Vicki back last week, she was able to throw the door open for all sorts of beings with unfinished business to come back.  And come back they did.  Bonnie's grandmother came back as did Lexi and the graveyard vampires.  Basically, the population  of Mystic Falls experienced a serious boost due to the ghosts.

Let's start with Mason and Damon.  Was anyone else just totally amused by the fact that Mason chained up Damon and stabbed him with a red hot poker the way that Damon did to him.  Only thing missing was the ripped out heart.  I know it may be wrong, but I found it definitively amusing.  What was even more amusing was the "apology" that Damon threw at Mason.  We all knew it was the best Mason would get, so he just went with it.  The fact that he and Damon then teamed up to find a weapon to kill Klaus was pretty cool.  And it turns out that what they found were drawings.  I am guessing the drawings tell the stories of the Originals or something like that.  And given what they look like, they are *REALLY* old.

Lexi has a *VERY* direct way of drying Stefan out.  First, knock him out.  Then chain him to a chair.  Then put him through some sort of mega-accelerated detox.  I am guessing this is a ghost thing, but I could be wrong.  Then stab him repeatedly with a stake to make him feel.  Not exactly an orthodox method, but then again, these are not orthodox conditions.  I was very happy to see her back though.  I wonder what Elena will do now that Lexi has been sent back.

Jeremy screwed up.  Ok, he's been screwing up.  I understand that Anna is his first love post-drugs and what not and will always have a special place in his heart.  Not to mention that he never really got closure with her because she was killed by his uncle.  So he has alot to work through.  However, he also knows how Bonnie feels about this and he ended up ignoring that.  These two are going to have some issues to work through.  Not sure if their going to have much of a chance due to the necklace coming back.  I am foreseeing bad things for Bonnie.

The graveyard vampires were back with vengeance on their minds.  Specifically, killing members of the founding families.  Again, not a good thing.  Fortunately, there is only one victim.  There would have been a second, except Caroline went all badass and starting kicking ghost ass.  That girl just keeps on impressing me.  Yes, she's a total blonde, but she can fight really well when she needs to.  I love watching her fight because it is just really cool.

Next week, Elena (or is that Katherine?) and Rebekah have a throwdown and Alaric tries to decipher the pictures.....

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.06- Wake

In the wake of Nick's death, the town has a wake (ok, there was no other way I could think of to phrase it) and Nick's brother Jake appears to the consternation of almost everyone.  And he has secrets.....

Well, apparently Nick's good looks are a family trait because Jake is very easy on the eyes.  Not so easy, unfortunately, is the effect he had on everyone when he returned.  Faye, his ex, is plotting how to prove that she is over him; which just shows how not over him she is.  Adam hates his guts because Jake stole from Adam and his dad.  And then there is the little fact that he makes straight for Cassie which gives Adam jealousy issues which are not unnoticed by Diana who reacts to these and the declaration by Adam's dad that Adam and Cassie are destined for each other by breaking up with Adam.  Oy!  Oh, and did I mention that Jake is also a witch turned witch-hunter as revenge for what happened to his family?  This is not good...

Ok, so let's start with Diana and Adam.  This little situation has been brewing since Cassie first arrived.  Diana has been pretty quiet about this, but she obviously reached the end of her rope tonight.  Fortunately, she seems to realize that Cassie has very little to do with it purposefully, so hopefully their relationship won't be too strained.  But woe to Cassie and Adam.  Start dating and methinks that Diana will get a *leeettle* bit upset.  Hopefully not full-on, Faye darkside, but upset.  And Adam's dad so didn't help matters at all.  Not entirely sure why he is so fixated on the *destiny* of Adam and Cassie, but he is.  Suspect the drunkeness has something to do with that though.

Poor Melissa is riding an emotional rollercoaster.  Faye is not exactly the flying buttress of supports (although she is trying before Jake arrives) and Melissa really needs to find someone else to help her out.  When she curled up in that little ball of pain in Nick's bed, that just hurt something fierce.  And post-Jake arrival, Faye is so obsessed with proving how over him she is, that she almost ended up ignoring Melissa.  Sigh.....

One thing I do have to say about Jake is that he knows how to make an entrance.  That little show outside of his house was quite the eyecatcher.  And the little spell he did with Cassie?  Nifty.  I knew he knew the hunter, but I didn't quite suspect that he was a hunter too.  Having a member of the Circle hunting the Circle?  That just goes beyond not a good thing into realms I don't want to think about.

Thank goodness Cassie is keeping something of a level head on her shoulders.  From relying on and listening to her grandmother to trying to hold the Circle together, she has a lot to do.  Granted, her idea about keeping Jake around may not be the smartest idea given what we know, but from what I have seen Cassie is a good judge of character and I suspect (rather heavily) that Jake will come around at some point.  Of course, I could be wrong, but I am hoping that I am not.  And nice use of the crystal.  I also appreciated the explanation for why Cassie individually is so damned powerful and why she added so much to the Circle.  Her bloodline is from the first generation of witches which apparently makes her an uber-witch.

 

Charles, dude, hold it together.  You are becoming as bad as Adam's dad.  Keep heading down this road and Dawn may just do something to you that you won't like.....

My Review of The Vampire Diaries 3.06- Smells Like Teen Spirit

Stefan and Tyler are having *TOO* much fun, things with Vicki come to a head, and how Bonnie deals with the situation has interesting ramifications....

Ok, was anyone besides me *TOTALLY* blindsided by the return of our favorite werewolf uncle, Mason Lockwood?  I am assuming that it is his spirit back from the other side in much the same way that Anna's is.  Presumably what happened is that when Bonnie sent Vicki back, it somehow freed Anna to be on this side and did the same thing to Mason for some reason.  Either that, or somehow Klaus resurrected Mason and turned him into a hybrid.  I do not think it was the second, but I could be wrong.

What was up with Tyler "whipped-by-Klaus" Lockwood?  Geez, he was annoying.  Overly perky, prone to overreacting to situations...oh wait, he's part vampire now and totally sire-whipped.  Guess being sired by an Original will do that to you.  The question is what effect (if any) his obvious love for Caroline will have on the situation.  Given that Stefan nearly resisted Klaus' compulsion last week based on his love for Elena, will Tyler be able to pull something similar?  Of course, with Rebecca around, the point may very well be moot or close to it anyway.

Watching Elena go all tough girl was interesting.  Given everything that has happened to her, I think she that this will help her to hold it all together.  Of course, having Stefan the Stalker around isn't really going to help matters much.  I was amused by her talent to pretend to be drunk.  Figured it was part of the plan, but was still totally amused by it.  I am surprised that Stefan fell for it, although maybe he thought it was her way of pining over him.  Ok, it sort of was, but not entirely.  She really wants her Stefan back.  Stabbing Stefan in the gut with the spikes was almost the highlight of the entire episode because he *SO* deserved it.

While we are on the subject of Stefan and Elena, I am going to go out on a bit of a limb and guess that the first witch (who cursed Klaus) is the one who made a deal with Vicki to let her stay over here if she killed Elena.  Neat trick, I must say.  I do want to say that I have some very deep suspicions about  Mason and Anna.  I wonder if Vicki was supposed to come over and tell Matt about wanting to kill Elena so that Matt would go to Bonnie who would do her mojo and banish Vicki back to the other side while simultaneously releasing Anna and/or Mason.  That would truly be a little twisted.

I want to see a Caroline/Rebecca throwdown.  Ok, part of me wants to see it.  I think it would be an awesome cat fight, but I am afraid that Rebecca would have a severe edge over Caroline and kill her, and so not fond of that idea.  Oh well.

I am impressed with Damon.  He is actually being somewhat responsible and helping Elena out without the normal attitude.  That is appreciated.  And Catherine, while being helpful and bringing Michael back has gotten herself drunk (by him).  I do hope she's ok, because while she is an obnoxious bitch, she is alot of fun and I would seriously miss her.

My Review of Ringer 1.06- Poor Kids Do it Every Day

And tonight we deal with the effects of Gemma's disappearance which brings some definite tension between Henry and Bridget....

I find the way that Bridget dealt with Gemma's disappearance very interesting.  Once she finds out about the rags and vase, she finds them and then proceeds to frame....herself.  I suspect that she is trying to stop Agent Machado from looking for her by making it look like she had something to do with Gemma's disappearance and then fled.  Unique method, I must admit.  I am also very proud of the fact that she took Juliet's drugs and gave them to Charlie to get rid of.  Good girl, you get a cookie.  Now all she has to worry about is convincing Machado about what happened, which ought to be a challenging exercise.

Could Henry make himself look any guiltier?  He cleans the crime scene really well, makes it look like Gemma fled, and then flips out at Bridget about it.  And any bets on how long it is going to take him to figure out that "Siobhan" called the cops?  I want to witness that little confrontation.

So Siobhan did have something to do with the disappearance after all.  Not entirely convinced Gemma is dead, but given that little conversation between Siobhan and her associate, I am willing to bet good money that she is.  Then there is also the little conversation she had with Henry.  Andrew had better watch his back because Siobhan has a long reach.

Juliet, sweetie, just a little idea.  Mouthing off during your first day of school at a girl who looks like a punk?  Not a good idea.  At least she had a teacher who was ready to defend her and spoke the truth, even if he didn't know it for sure.  Now just learn to control that little mouth of yours, ok?

Malcolm, Malcolm, where oh where art thou Malcolm?  Machado was so close to you, but then you got moved.  And I so hope you didn't tell the gangsters where Bridget is.

Andrew didn't do much other than react to things.  Not the best reactions either.  Take some time to reassure your daughter that you believe her first before you send her out.  Sigh....

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.05- Slither

Holy crap, I so did not see that ending coming.  This show just keeps getting better and better every week.

Ok, I know they were talking about a death, but I figured it would come later in the season.  I also figured it would be one of the adults.  I did not expect Nick to die in the fifth frikking episode of the show!  Wow, wow, wow....and owowowowowowow......

Well, Cassie's grandmother now knows that the kids know that they are witches.  And she is powerful and knowledgable.  Facing down that demon and bringing the crystal along was just incredible.  Surprisingly, she is fine with the kids knowing.  I think she realizes that hiding this from them is just going to cause problems.  So if guiding them along will keep them relatively safe, go for it.  Unfortunately, I think this could mean doom for her given that mentors normally die at the most inopportune moments.  Also, her knowledge came too late to save Nick.

So, the demon was summoned by the Circle 16 years ago?  I wonder why you would summon a demon.  That seems to be an incredibly stupid thing to do.  The only justification I can see for it is if they somehow thought they were summoning a benign spirit of some sort.  Still, the demon killed alot of people before being ended by Charles.  I really feel for him.  To have to drown a kid, even to save yourself and others, is horrible.  I just hope he doesn't go the route of Adam's father.  I suspect that he will start drinking to dull the pain and let what happened slip to Diana around mid-season or at the end of the season.

It was nice to see Adam and Diana together and relaxed.  That was just totally cute.  Then, demonus interruptus.  Talk about killing the mood.  If anyone knows of a faster way to kill a mood, don't tell me, I don't want to know.

I am so not going to enjoy seeing the impact that losing Nick is going to have on Melissa and the rest of the kids (but mainly Melissa).  I wonder if this breaks the Circle and thus restores their individual powers or if they will simply be weakened as a whole because of this.  I am going to say that I am holding out hope that Nick will return somehow, even if I seriously doubt it.

My Review of The Vampire Diaries 3.05- The Reckoning

When this episode was called a "game changer" I was skeptical.  Boy, was I wrong.  Tonight, everything changed, and almost none of it for the better....

It turns out that Elena's death would have destroyed any chance Klaus had of creating hybrids.  Her blood is what stabilizes the transformation.  Good news for Tyler who survived the change, bad news for everyone else.  Ok, it's a double edged sword for Elena.  Klaus needs her alive as a human in order to continue making hybrids once his supply of her blood (which he took from her) runs out.  So that means he is not as much of a threat to her personally.  But it is bad because now she is the "mother" (so to speak) of the new hybrids and now her friends and loved ones are in more danger because Klaus will undoubtedly use them to do what he wants.  Other piece of bad news for our girl?  Stefan is back.  And not our lovable, brooding and tortured Stefan, but a compelled Stefan who is fully within the Ripper persona.  This is very bad....

Everyone who wants to smack Matt squarely upside the head raise your hand!  Dude, I get wanting to help your sister and your friend, but seriously, drowning yourself to get to see her is such a dumb move!  He is (ok, was) the one normal one in the whole group and now that is shot to hell.  Brave, yes.  Selfless, sort of.  Stupid, insane, and moronic?  Absolutely!  I know that his life sucks, but at least his problems were normal human problems.  Yes, he knew about werewolves, witches, and vampires, but he could pretty much ignore it.  I also want to smack Jeremy for telling Matt about seeing Vicki and Anna.  I know why he did it, but it was not a great idea.

Damon is going to be in an interesting position now.  He is the only protector Elena has left seeing as Stefan has gone over to the dark side and Alaric is pretty much gone.  So, will he be a good guy and help Elena out like he did tonight?  Or will he revert to old form and join Stefan in vampiric fun?  I seriously suspect the former, but with this show, you can never tell.

Katherine's idea of kidnapping Jeremy to find out about Michael was really smart.  Find Klaus' weakness and exploit it for all it is worth.  A vampire who hunts other vampires and knows how to destroy Klaus permanently?  Wow.  And apparently he is indiscriminate in his choice of victims based on Anna's warning to Damon and Katherine.  Waking him sounds alot like poking a sleeping dragon.  In other words, an incredibly stupid idea that will backfire in so many bad ways.

I shudder at the implications of Klaus leaving Stefan behind as his eyes and ears.  Given how intimately Stefan knows Elena and the group, I am foreseeing serious Angelus-like mind games coming up.  And with Tyler a hybrid, this is just not good for our heroes....

My Review of Ringer 1.05- A Whole New Kind of Bitch

In the wake of Bridget's revelation, Gemma takes some odd steps.  Bridget continues to try and pick up the pieces of the mess Siobhan has left her with and Juliet returns with a vengeance.

Well, well, well.  Gemma knows for sure about Bridget now.  Due to some video footage that shows that Bridget doesn't have a scar that Siobhan does, Gemma now knows for sure.  And boy, does she fulfill that old trope that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.  I mean, I get that she is upset about Siobhan and Henry and upset about Bridget pretending to be Siobhan, but wow, to try and blackmail Bridget into sleeping with Henry or else she'll reveal who Bridget really is?  That is seriously low.  But the question is, what exactly happened to her?  But more on that at the end.

Bridget walked a seriously fine line and managed to stay on the right path.  You could tell that she really wanted to take those pills, but thank goodness she didn't.  Let's talk about her crappy couple of days.  First, the closest thing she has to a friend goes missing and won't return her phone call.  Then Gemma finds out about Siobhan and Henry and goes ballistic.  Then there is Juliet painting "WHORE" on the picture of Siobhan and lighting her clothes on fire.  Yeah, I say that would count as a crappy couple of days.  I was so happy to see her maintain some sort of equilibrium and stay focused on helping other people.  That will be what keeps her sober.

Andrew cheated on his previous wife with Siobhan.  No wonder Juliet hates them both.  Fortunately, Bridget used the steps from NA in order to help Juliet out.  That was nice to see.  Then there was that weird phone call from Gemma and her disappearance.  I really don't think Henry had anything to do with it.  In fact, I suspect one of two things.  Either Siobhan or her confederate reached out and did something or Gemma staged the whole thing knowing that Henry would say nothing.  I just wonder which it was or if it was something else entirely.

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.04- Heather

Cassie and Faye cast a spell with unintended consequences.....

Actually the summary above is a summary of most of the episode.  Unlike alot of episodes of shows which have multiple plots happening simultaneously, this one just had the main one with its consequences.

I am glad to see Cassie researching magic, even if it was only for personal reasons.  She is determined to figure out what her mom did to Heather Barnes 16 years ago.  It turns out that Heather was possessed by a demon and the spell which rendered Heather catatonic was a spell to bind the demon into Heather and keep it from doing any harm.  Unfortunately, Cassie (not knowing what exactly the spell did) decides to undo the spell.  Diana refuses to help and Adam follows along, but Faye finds out about it and decides to help Cassie herself.  The spell works, albeit in a delayed fashion.  Unfortunately for Cassie and Faye, Heather comes looking for Amelia and ends up attacking them only to end up dead after being hit by a truck.  The demon escapes and enters Melissa.

Talk about unintended consequences.  Try to do good and it comes back to bite ya on the ass.  So not a good thing.  Well Cassie, live and learn.  I am sure Diana will not always be right, but for now, her caution is more than warranted.  And why does Diana keep shoving Adam and Cassie together?  We know she is aware of their connection, but still she persists.  That is asking for trouble.

It was also nice to see Nick be seriously human this week.  He treats Melissa right and admits that he is not be the right guy for her.  Love him for that.  It is going to suck when he is forced to confront those feelings with the demon in Melissa and all.  And Melissa sweetie, don't listen to Faye.  Follow your own heart dear.

My Review of Vampire Diaries 3.04- Disturbing Behavior

Elena gets a wake-up call, a surprising person comes to Mr. Forbes' defense, Bonnie learns some disturbing news, and someone unwelcome has returned to town....

Well, well, well at long last, Klaus and Stefan have come back to Mystic Falls.  And road was not easy and the arrival came at a *VERY* unpropitious moment for Elena.  But, more on this later.  Let's start with the twisted saga of Elena and Damon.

After 2 seasons of banter, semi-flirting, and interesting looks, Elena confronts the fact that she cares about Damon.  If you're shocked, raise your hand.  No hands, that's what I thought.  There has clearly always been something there between the two of them.  It is nowhere near the level of Elena and Stefan, but it is there.  Elena has been trying (unsuccessfully) to tame Damon and change him to make him more like Stefan; in other words more civilized and less vampiric.  Well, tonight, Damon let her know in no uncertain terms that he was having none of it.  Let me see, tonight he drank from Mr. Forbes (twice), attempted to compel him once, and snapped Alaric's neck when Alaric annoyed him (which led to a very amusing talk when Alaric recovered).  So, when Katherine shows up, Damon leaves with her because he feels that the walls are closing in on him.  How much do we love that Caroline forced Elena to confront the feelings and admit they were there?  Can I just say, "Oodles and oodles!"  Also loved Caroline attacking Damon to protect her dad.  Not that he really deserved it, but it was nice to see.  Now if only the man could bend a little for Caroline.....

And Bonnie returns.  And just in time too, because Klaus' witch (Gloria) was looking for the necklace.  Unfortunately, Bonnie couldn't stop her or anything, but she is determined to see what she can do in regards to the necklace.  And she also knows that Jeremy has been seeing Anna and Vicky.  I wonder what she is going to do or if she can do anything about it.  Work magic and consequences ensue.  Unfortunately this time, the consequences are pretty severe given that the magic was restoring life to Jeremy.  Also interesting to learn that Vicky and Anna can only appear when Jeremy wants them to.  Only problem with the necklace is that now Katherine has it.  I worry about that one.

And now for the Klaus/Stefan show.  After being tortured by Gloria who figures out why Stefan is hiding his knowledge of the necklace, Stefan is rescued by Katherine.  We also learn that Klaus' name is Niklaus and that the hunter from last week is named Michael.  Oh, and one other small matter.  Rebecca knows that Stefan is holding onto a part of his old life.  Thus, Klaus knocks Stefan out and they return to Mystic Falls, just as Damon and Katherine are leaving.  So not a good sign.

And one last matter, Alaric has forced his way onto the Council as the representative of the Gilbert family to speak for the normal humans.  I do get a bad feeling about this....

My Review of Ringer 1.04- It's Gonna Kill Me, But I'll Do It

A birthday with secrets revealed, Bridget faces the consequences of what Siobhan did, and Siobhan puts her plan back on track....

Well, well, well, Bridget's lies are starting to catch up with her (as are Siobhan's).  She has a wonderful birthday weekend planned for her by Andrew, who invites Henry and Gemma along.  Unbeknownst to Bridget, Agent Machado also invites himself along and reveals her existence to Gemma.  Talk about an awkward conversation.  Having to talk about yourself in the third person and explaining why your existence was never revealed.  At least she could that flawlessly.  Unfortunately for Bridget, Henry has a conversation with her which is overheard by Gemma who finds out about the affair.  One confrontation later and Bridget reveals who she is in an effort to get out of trouble.  Ow.....  But, methinks that this conversation may not actually be believed.

And as for Siobhan, well, she is doing her best to live it up and to get Tyler back as a part of her plan which appears to be to get money from Andrews company, presumably through illegal means.  I wonder how much of what she said was true and how much was a lie.  Based on what we have seen, most of it was true, but you can never be sure.  I want to know what exactly Andrew did to make Siobhan hate him so much.  This whole thing could not have been planned because Bridget coming to see her was unexpected.  Unless Siobhan had a plan and then modified it because Bridget was there.  Who knows?

What will Gemma do?  Given the preview, I don't think she believes Bridget, but it was ambiguous enough that she may have.  I wonder if she'll believe Bridget but lash out at her anyways since Siobhan is not around.  That would suck.

Given that Malcolm wasn't present this week, I wonder how he is doing after the forced drug injection last week.  My guess, not good, but you never know.

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.03- Loner

Tonight Cassie continues to sing from the "I just want to be normal" song book, Diana and Cassie have a short heart-to-heart about Adam, Faye continues her journey to actual humanity, and a blast from the past returns....

After the events of last week, can anyone blame Cassie for wanting normality?  Yeah, that's what I thought.  But, like many reluctant heroes and heroines of yore, her life resists all things normal.  Oh well.  At this point dear, do the best you can and accept the fact that normal is just not in the cards for you.  Particularly when it seems your mom did something fairly awful to one of her friends 16 years ago.  I suspect that her mom didn't actually do anything, that whatever happened was a byproduct of the fire, but still to someone who seems a little disturbed, that don't make much difference.  And sweetie, avoid Adam at all costs.  Stop making googly eyes at him, stop dancing with him, and don't automatically run to him when you are in trouble.  I know you aren't aiming to hurt Diana, but you are headed that way at breakneck speed.  Diana knows that there is attraction there and she is seriously worried.  But, alas, this is a high school drama and no high school drama is complete without at least one love triangle.  Sigh....

Who knew that Faye could care about someone outside of herself?  I loved her when she told Melissa not to settle for the crap that Nick was giving her and that she deserved better.  That was a fairly major step for the queen biatch of the show.  I could actually get to like her.  I was highly amused by her annoyance at not doing simple spells (hint dear, know your combination anyways, just to be safe).  And that magic that she and Diana did together was impressive.

Well, Adam tried to give Cassie someone else to focus on.  Unfortunately, since Cassie's life resists all things normal, it just didn't work.  And dude, dancing with Cassie, particularly a slow dance, *SO* not a good idea.  I was also impressed with what he did in that little confrontation.  And the fact that they could weave a semi-convincing lie so quickly was impressive.  Granted, Mrs. Chamberlain was just looking for an excuse so she could sweep it under the rug, but still, props must be given when they are due.

Melissa and Nick are *S*L*O*W*L*Y* being fleshed out.  I wish we could get a bit more on the two of them.  So, Nick has lost both of his parents (both in the fire?) and so is severely damaged.  Here's hoping that Melissa can tame the bad boy, because the two of them are sort of cute together.

Principal Chamberlain (can never remember her first name) and Charles just keep playing cleanup crew, whether it is for their own messes or for the kids.  This is a good thing, but at some point they are going to slip up.

Next week, Cassie finds the friend her mom damaged.....

My Review of Vampire Diaries 3.03- The End of the Affair

Tonight we learned some backstory of Stefan, Klaus, and his sister Rebecca; Elena got a rude wake-up call; and Sheriff Forbes had a little confrontation with her ex....

Well, that was interesting.  Turns out that Stefan has met Klaus before.  In Chicago in the 1920s, Stefan met a vampire named Rebecca who has an older brother named Nick (aka Klaus).  Nick didn't like Stefan at first, then Stefan compelled a man to drink his own wife's blood and they became friends until Nick compelled Stefan to forget about it until he was given leave to remember.  That just sucks.  I am definitely enjoying seeing Stefan in his glory days as the Ripper.  It just makes him a much more interesting character overall.  While I do enjoy St. Stefan, watching fallen Stefan is just nifty.  And it make me totally realize why Stefan is the way he is now.  I mean, we all knew that Stefan had been a bad, bad boy, but seeing the delight he took in it just brings it to a whole other level entirely.  And how about Stefan making time with an Original?  Very nice!

Poor Elena.  That confrontation with Stefan was just murder.  I get it, he wants to keep her safe, but damn, did he have to be that harsh?  Ok, well, I guess so, but still.  That poor girl got one scare after another tonight.  First, Klaus and Stefan nearly walk in on her in Stefan's apartment.  Then Stefan tells her he doesn't want to see her anymore.  Granted, we know this is not true and that he is just saying this to protect her, but still.  Wow...

Damon listening to Katherine.  This time it was a good thing, but seriously, not always the wisest thing to do.  And what is it about him pissing off Klaus?  Granted, this time he was doing it to ensure that Stefan could meet with Elena, but still, the only thing that saved him was the fact that Gloria didn't want him killed in her bar.  Stop pushing your luck!  We get it, you're a bad boy who likes to live dangerously!  For Elena's sake, take fewer risks!

I have to say that I loved Gloria.  Not around much (although I suspect that she'll return at some point), but she was nifty.  Powerful enough to stave off aging and smart enough to remain on friendly terms with Klaus.  I suspect that if she and Bonnie ever had a confrontation it would be one hell of a knock down, drag out fight.  Doubt Bonnie could win without a major power boost, but it would be interesting.  And who exactly is the first witch?

Caroline also gets the short end of the stick this week.  Daddy is back and has *ISSUES* with his darling child being a vampire.  So, he decides to get her to submerge her vampiric tendencies.  His method is taken straight out of the Pavlovian textbook that came directly from hell.  He tortures her so that she'll associate vampirism with pain.  Exposing her to the sun (sans ring) and then shoving a blood bag beneath her nose.  Nice fellow.  Fortunately for Caroline, Tyler knew enough to get the Sheriff to rescue Caroline.  Very nice.  Seeing Tyler carry her out was sweet as was their scene in her bedroom after she got back.  How much did I love that Sheriff Forbes gave Caroline blood to drink so she could recover?  And when Caroline crumpled against Tyler and wept about her dad?  That was just heart wrenching.

Next week, Bonnie returns and the Saga of Klaus and Stefan continues....

My Review of Ringer 1.03- If You Ever Want a French Lesson...

Siobhan finds out she is pregnant at a bad time, Bridget looks into the phone of her assailant with some interesting results, Andrew discovers something Siobhan has been hiding, and Gemma finds out something that Henry has done in a not entirely nice way that makes her unhappy....

Most of this episode was centered around Bridget trying to figure out who the assailant was and who sent him.  So, she decides to use the phone to figure it out.  Unfortunately for her, it was a disposable phone and couldn't be used unless she went to the FBI or the police which wasn't going to happen, so, there you have it.  However, she did use the threat of the FBI in a very nice manner.  After the mystery guy who showed up at the party last week called her demanding the phone back, Bridget called Agent Marchado and when she knew that she had been seen with him, used that threat to get the guy to back off.  Well played.

Not so well played was her attempt to figure out who the assailant was connected to.  Upon seeing a picture of Andrew and Siobhan together, Bridget realized that this picture was where the picture of Siobhan that the assailant had came from.  So, naturally she assumed Andrew was behind it.  This semi-twisted investigation led to a divorce attorney which Andrew found out about thanks to someone who saw Bridget there.  And this was after he had bought Bridget a lovely dress to wear to the ballet that evening.  Ow.  Not good.  I would warn Bridget to be stealthy, except for the fact that she just keeps bumping into people who know Siobhan which makes stealth rather difficult.  I did appreciate how she made up for it in the end though.  Oh, and yes, that photo was used as part of a holiday card which means that any number of people could have used it.  I do get the feeling that Siobhan is somehow involved in the attack,  Don't remember what it was, but something about Siobhan just has me convinced that there is something there.

Speaking of Siobhan, after she meets a cute banker who works for Andrew's firm, she invites him to her room for "French class".  Um, yeah, ok.  Once he shows up, things quickly go horizontal.  Who knew you could learn French on a bed.  That just might have made learning languages easier when I was younger.  Unfortunately, at that moment, morning sickness strikes and she forces him out and finds that she is pregnant.  Sickness interruptus!  And she obviosly cares about Henry given that she called him after discovering about her pregnancy.

As for Agent Machado, he is still circling and trying to figure a way in.  Judges just keep turning down his requests for information about Siobhan's phone records.  His instincts are very good even if he can never prove them.  Just keep plugging away.

And that partner of Andrew's is a complete bitch.  When Henry asked to withdraw the money and after Andrew told her not to tell Gemma, guess what she does.  Oh yes, she tells Gemma.  I just want to know if we are allowed to hurt her.  And it is as if these two need any more issues....

No new questions this week really although I suspect there is something more to that Pratt Street property than we are seeing.

My Review of Vampire Diaries 3.02- The Hybrid

Klaus has a nasty surprise, Damon and Alaric try to help Elena, Tyler and his mom learn things about each other, Matt helps out Jeremy, and we meet Caroline's dad....

Well, if you didn't already know that Elena was a little crazy, this week proves it.  After the call from Stefan last week, she decides to track him down and convinces Alaric to come along.  Alaric invites Damon, who shows up in typical Damon fashion- out of the blue.  Gotta give Elena credit though, she is so determined to help Stefan that she is willing to risk her own life to save him.  Fortunately, she is not so willing to sacrifice anyone else, and so gives Alaric the protective ring and then forces everyone to run at the first sign of trouble threatening Damon.  Then again, this isn't surprising.  Like Stefan, Elena is a martyr.  She is willing to sacrifice herself in order to help save her friends and loved ones just like last season with Klaus.  Sweet, but not a good thing.

Ever practical Damon uses his customary tact to cut right through everything in order to get to the truth.  He knows why Elena made him and Alaric run and forces her to confront the fact that she cares for him to and to say it out loud.  Granted, it was for what is ultimately a selfish motive, but still.  As for Damon's little conversation with Stefan, that was interesting.  The more Stefan protests that he needs to be abandoned, the more Damon realizes that Stefan can't be.  Like Damon said, Stefan is a martyr.  See Elena above.

As for Matt and Jeremy, that was just interesting.  I am definitely glad that Matt is not being cut out anymore, but I bet he wishes he was.  All this weirdness is almost too much for him.  Unfortunately, Jeremy is convinced that he needs Matt's help in order to help Vicki.  Unfortunately, Vicki wants help in order to come back.  And Anna is here to stop her.  I have to ask, did bringing Jeremy back open some sort of gateway between this world and the next?  If so, can anyone he cares about come back, or only certain people?  Because Jenna died as a vampire like Vicki and Anna, so could she be next?

Mrs. Lockwood got a nasty surprise tonight.  She discovered that Tyler is a werewolf.  She obviously thought he was a vampire (given the hanging around with and sleeping with Caroline) so she test him by giving him vervain.  Then, he reveals the truth by making her watch him as he transforms.  Yikes.  Oh, and the vampire hunter that Mrs. Lockwood called for in order to get rid of Caroline?  Her dad.  Talk about Daddy I*S*S*U*E*S!!!!!

As for Klaus, he was in for a very disappointing time.  He so wanted his army of hybrids and so broke the curse.  Unfortunately for him, the doppleganger is still alive and so he can't have his army.  Fortunately, he doesn't seemed to have figured out Elena is alive or I suspect he would be on his way back to kill her.  Stefan needs to be careful though or else there will be hell to pay.

My Review of The Secret Circle 1.02- Bound

The consequences of the fire 16 years ago, Cassie attempts to have a normal life, Cassie and Adam have sparks flying, Diana is insecure, Faye is a world class bitch, and Dawn goes to extraordinary lengths to keep events moving....

So, after the fire 16 years ago that killed half of the Circle, the parents of that Circle and other elders banded together to strip them of their power.  Interesting.  And so Charles has been using a crystal to use magic again.  Not good.  Fortunately (ok, not so fortunately after all), Dawn took the crystal because once it is used up, their powers are gone.  I wonder why they want the kids to form a Circle though.  Do they think that the kids can restore their powers?  That seems to be the most likely possibility.  And Dawn has some humanity and used magic to save Sally who was killed (or almost killed, not entirely clear there) by Faye using magic.  As a result, of this Dawn's father-in-law (who doesn't like her) was going to report this to the elders and so she killed him.  So not a good sign.

Poor Cassie was trying to live a normal life.  Alas, it is not to be.  She not only completes the Circle, but appears to be seriously powerful and not in control of what happens.  Dear, please, be specific in what you want.  Although the whole shattering glass thing was highly amusing.  As was her observation about whether or not Nick owns a shirt.  <snerk>  The question is, was Diana right in insisting that the Circle be bound?  Faye's grandfather seemed to be dead set against the idea and allusions were made to the fact that the binding may have some unintended consequences.

As for Adam and Cassie, there is most definitely something there.  Their attraction to each other is undeniable and given that lights were shattering when the two of them were in close proximity, this cannot be a good thing.  They are obviously the star-crossed couple here, but it remains to be seen what route they will follow.  Will they deny their passion or give in to it?  Obviously deny it for a while, and I wonder how long it will last.

Faye was playing around with the power and it bit her on the @$$ big time.  She has no control over it and then killed Sally.  Not a good thing.  Well, the only good part about it was that she was forced to go through with the binding once she faced what she was capable of.  That was a rough way to learn, but at least no permanent damage was done, well, not that we know of anyways.

The glimpse under Diana's self-assured exterior was interesting.  I do wonder if she played any of it up for Adam's benefit or if it was 100% real.  I guessing the latter, but I could be wrong.  She honestly wants the binding to make sure that things stay under control and she also has a good head on her shoulders.

And poor Melissa.  Nick sleeps with her and then moves on almost immediately to Faye.  Can we say "man whore"?  Ok, all together now.  Dump him sweetie.  Granted, he is hot and what not, but you can do so much better.

Next week, a stranger shows up and the Circle has magic issues....
